Nina (Portman) is a dancer in a ballet company in New York, whose life, like everything else in his profession, completely consumed with dance. He lives with his mother's obsessive ex-dancer Erica (Hershey), which provides a regulatory control over it. When the artistic director Thomas Leroy (Cassel) has decided to replace the former dancer Beth MacIntyre (Ryder) to produce the new season debut of Swan Lake, Nina is your first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), Leroy also impressive. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play the White Swan with innocence and grace, the Black Swan, which represents the deception and sensuality. Nina fits perfectly in the role of the White Swan, but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. When two young dancers extend their rivalry in a lopsided friendship, Nina began to have more contact with his dark side - an oversight that threatens to destroy her.
